Great stuff Gavin. Do you think adding another midfielder against Hearts would have perhaps allowed us to react in more numbers to the 2nd balls? Curious to understand what that also would have meant for the build up from the keeper. Can't help but feel someone in front of the back 4 with 2 midfielders further ahead provides more protection and options in games where we are outnumbered in midfield and also away from home where we don't have as much of the ball.
I do think we’re light in midfield, the challenge if you add another one is he would probably lose the width (eg 4-4-2 diamond) and that seems pretty important to Thelin but he did chase for the Cup Final, albeit to a 3-5-2.
Assuming he stays in current shape, I thought we might add some more legs this summer but nothing this far. Palaversa, Nilsen and assuming new Icelandic lad (haven’t seen him) seem more sitting players and I think some more energy alongside the other two more ‘lightweight’ lads in Clarkson and Adil wouldn’t go amiss.
